Polish farmers intend to officially extend the protests at the Ukrainian-Polish border until April to pursue their demands.

That’s according to RMF FM, citing Roman Kondruv, the leader of the organization of farmers “Podkarpackie Deceived Village”, which is currently blocking the border at the Medyka-Shehyni checkpoint.

“We are exacerbating the rally. Today, I am going to apply for an extension of the protest for the next month, it will last until April. We are going to arrange it on a rotational basis, some farmers will work in the field, and the others will protest at the border,” claimed Roman Kondruv
According to Kondruv, the farmers will consider blocking passenger buses if their government does not meet their demands and Ukrainians will block the border in response.

“If we block buses, it will be very bad. But perhaps then our government will finally look for reasonable solutions,” said Kondruv.

Ukrainian hauliers started their protest on February 20. According to Suspilne, they plan to continue it until March 15 or until the Polish protesters stop their rally.

“Either everyone stays, or everyone goes. It’s unfair that Ukrainian vehicles stay while Polish ones are allowed through. We understand what they want. But all of the Polish demands are directed at the European Union or their own government; there are no demands toward Ukraine, so it’s a bizarre situation. People are very determined. They will stand there around the clock,” stressed Volodymyr Mykhalevych, Head of the NGO International Road Carriers of Ukraine.

Ukrainian peaceful protest spans three border checkpoints, Rava-Ruska, Krakovets, and Shehyni.
