The participants of the rally at the border blocked the railway at the Medyka-Shehyni border crossing for a short moment, demonstratively dumped the grain, and went back to blocking trucks.

This was reported by Suspilne.

Roman Kondruv, a co-organizer of the Polish farmers’ protest and head of the “Podkarpackie Deceived Village” organisation explained that he was not able to control the protesters and that the grain pouring took place due to emotional reasons.

The videos from the site show that police arrived at the scene. Less than half an hour after their arrival, the Polish farmers unblocked the railroad and went back to the highway.

“Spilled Ukrainian grain on the railroads in Poland is another political provocation, aimed at between our nations,” reacted to the incident Oleksandr Kubrakov, Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine.

He added no one will benefit from damaged grain except Russia.

According to a statement by Ukrzaliznytsia, the grain was meant to reach Germany, and Poland was only a transit country.

The Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland Vasyl Zvarych called the incident a “moral defeat and disgrace both to themselves and others” and demanded the investigation.

The Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland Vasyl Zvarych called the incident a “moral defeat and disgrace both to themselves and others” and demanded the investigation.”Such actions do not fit the Polish society that has been showing solidarity for Ukraine. Ukraine that protects Poland and Europe from Russian evil. While Ukrainian soldiers are deterring the aggressor on the battlefield, risking their lives, Polish farmers are able to freely and safely work on their fields, having no fear of landmines and missiles,” said Zvarych.

Polish farmers are currently holding a major strike in around 200 locations across the country. They are blocking roads, key communication hubs, and checkpoints on the border with Ukraine. Their top demands include a ban on imports of Ukrainian agricultural products and Poland’s rejection of the European Green Deal.
