The Stockholm International Film Festival has announced the winners. The best film was the crime drama “Rhino” by Oleg Sentsov.

The film won the main prize of the festival – “Bronze Horse”, and in the nomination “Best Actor” won the lead actor Sergei Filimonov.
Together with the Ukrainian film, 15 more films competed for the victory in the competition this year. This is the second award for Sergei Filimonov – he previously became the best actor at the Batumi International Film Festival.
“Rhino” is the second full-length work by Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov. The world premiere of the film took place at the 78th Venice Film Festival in the official competition program “Horizons”, the Ukrainian one this autumn at the Kyiv Critics’ Week.
The history of the film is based on real events of the 90s in Ukraine. The protagonist, nicknamed the Rhino, enters the criminal world and begins his bloody path, which will lead him not where he expected.
The filming of “Rhino” took place in Kryvyi Rih, Lviv and Kyiv and ended in December 2020. The film is a co-production of Ukraine, Poland and Germany.
“Rhino” will be released in Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
