The Alliance supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. NATO does not recognize Russia’s illegal annexation of Crimea.
This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at a joint press conference with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, UA informs.
Ukraine has the right to defend itself, this is written in the UN charter. NATO will provide practical support (for Ukraine – ed.).
“We have Alliance instructors and advisers in your military forces, participate in joint exercises and provide equipment” – Stoltenberg said.
NATO Secretary General stressed that NATO’s support for Ukraine does not pose a threat to Russia. Ukraine has the right to choose the means of security. This is a fundamental principle of European security. The decision whether Ukraine can join NATO will be made only by Ukraine and the 30 members of the Alliance.
