Today, on May 10, Brussels is hosting a meeting of the Military Committee for International Cooperation, which consists of 32 Alliance defense regions. Oleksii Matsuka, editor-in-chief of the Ukrainian foreign broadcasting TV channel FREEDOM, announced this from the scene.
The Chairman of the Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, opened the meeting.
“By coming to a consensus on how best to secure the security of 1 billion people, we ensure political decision-making with military capabilities. The role of this committee is crucial. “Our advice at the political level is bound up with the consequences that what is politically desirable is actually a feasible known bloc from a historical point of view,” Bauer.
At a meeting of the Supreme Commander of the Union of Forces in Europe, General Christopher Cavoli. 32 Minister of Defense considers issues of strategic importance for the Alliance. First introduced as a member in Finland.
“Today, for the first time, we welcome General Timo Kevin from Finland as an ally. Timo, we are happy and proud that we can now officially call you a public brother-in-arms, ”said Bauer.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg joined the Military Committee for the session to review the Alliance’s priorities and challenges. The war unleashed by the Kremlin against Ukraine is also on the agenda. But there was a place and a joke that caused laughter in the hall.
“Finnish membership is not complete without Sweden. We all expect to give General Miguel the same honors and warm welcome without a long engagement, and it would be time to enter into a happy marriage, ”said Bauer.
The Chairman of the Military Committee also considered that the meeting should have been Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny. The reason is justified – there is a war going on in Ukraine.
“Yesterday I received a letter from the Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief, our friend Valery Zaluzhny, that his participation even in a video conference is impossible, given the difficult operational situation in defense against Russian aggression. Our best wishes to the Ukrainian defenders. We are focused on getting Valery from the representative of his representative … about the latest developments on the ground where Ukrainians are fighting for what is rightfully theirs, ”Bauer clarifies the situation.
“Ukraine is still in the spotlight, both politically and on a military plane. No fatigue, no doubt, no confusion. Ukraine has a positive attitude towards NATO, Ukraine also sees itself as a member of NATO,” Matsuka said.
