Belarus’s recognition of Russia’s illegal occupation of Crimea will be a blow to Ukrainian-Belarusian relations.
This was stated by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba in Riga, where a meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers is taking place, UA reports.
This is how he reacted to Alexander Lukashenko’s intention to visit the peninsula together with Russian President Vladimir Putin. In particular, he allegedly plans to visit the air and space base in Sevastopol (Crimea) at Putin’s invitation.
“If Belarus really recognizes Russia’s illegal occupation of Crimea, it will deal an irreparable blow to Ukrainian-Belarusian relations. We will act according to the full program. Crimea is not an issue where we allow ourselves restraint” – Kuleba said.
To remind, Ukraine’s invitation to participate in a meeting of NATO’s highest political body in Riga demonstrates its importance as one of the Alliance’s closest security partners and sends a strong signal of support for Ukraine in countering Russian aggression. Dmytro Kuleba spoke about this during a conversation with journalists in Riga.
