Increased interest in Ukrainian legislation noticed in Crimea – details from Deputy Permanent Representative

The pro-Ukrainian part of the population of the Crimean Peninsula temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation is waiting for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. And the Crimeans, who were involved in collaborationism, but did not contribute to the occupation and did not commit serious crimes, are actively interested in Ukrainian legislation. Denis Chistikov, Deputy Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (ARC), announced this live on the FREEDOM TV channel.

“They ask what the responsibility will be, so they want to stay in Crimea. Therefore, we note an increase in interest in Ukrainian legislation, because the inhabitants of Crimea are already beginning the process of integration, as it were, ”said the guest on the air.

At the same time, he notes “increased pressure from law enforcement and special agencies, who understand that the situation is getting out of control.”

“Recently, the number of symbols that are tied to Ukraine, on the territory of Crimea, has increased. It should be noted that these symbols, their number is not connected with the fact that the activists are acting, but indicates that support for Ukraine is growing in the territory of the temporary occupied Crimea,” Chistikov said.

The Permanent Representation of the President of Ukraine in Crimea also records the intensification of repression and pressure on the Crimean Tatars.

“At the beginning of the year, 26 people were detained and subject to arrest, who stayed under administrative arrests for about 10 days. In addition, law enforcement officers are now walking in places densely populated by Crimean Tatars and warning: if they take part in mass rallies, they will also be prosecuted,” says the Deputy Permanent Representative.

In addition, information is being disseminated about a new wave of mobilization and the distribution of subpoenas in places densely populated by Crimean Tatars. According to Chistikov, this is an element of psychological pressure on the indigenous people of Crimea to force their representatives to leave the peninsula.

Also, speaking about the situation in Crimea, the Deputy Permanent Representative noted: residents understand that there will be no tourist season, and they also record long queues at the Crimean crossing.

“They are also related to the fact that a large amount of grain is exported from the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea to the territory of the Russian Federation. This also indicates that the Russian Federation is trying to take out as much as possible something valuable from the territory of Crimea that they do not want to leave in Crimea,” stated Denis Chistikov.
