An interdepartmental headquarters has been set up in Ukraine to coordinate the actions of law enforcement agencies to protect the state border.

The interdepartmental headquarters will coordinate the interaction of entities involved in strengthening and protecting the Ukrainian border. It aims to counter a possible migration crisis at the border.
According to Volodymyr Nikiforenko, First Deputy Head of the State Tax Service of Ukraine, the establishment of the headquarters is envisaged by a government decision.
“It will ensure the coordination of the activities of all executive bodies, local self-government, military formations, law enforcement agencies and public associations involved in measures to strengthen the protection and defense of the state border of Ukraine. In addition, regional coordination headquarters are being set up” – Nikiforenko said.
The staff consists of representatives of:
Ministry of Internal Affairs;
National Police;
National Guard;
State Emergency Service;
State Migration Service;
Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
Ministry of Defense;
Ministry of Justice;
Ministry of Finance;
Ministry of Infrastructure;
Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine;
Command of the Armed Forces and the Security Service.
Ministries and executive bodies should organize joint training of security and defense sector components in cooperation with local governments to ensure readiness for action to strengthen the protection and defense of the state border of Ukraine.
Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Serhiy Demedyuk noted that it is necessary to use time as efficiently as possible to coordinate all necessary actions.
“As the situation shows, the tactics of action related to illegal migration from Belarus to the EU are ambiguous, something is changing every day” – he said.
