The Ukrainian army covers the Russian occupiers in the direction of Bakhmut with fire. The Defense Forces of Ukraine are gradually carrying out systemic counterattacks. Oleksandr Kovalenko, military and political commentator of the “Information Resistance” group, stated this today, June 12, on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel.
He noted that the actions of the Ukrainian army in the Bakhmut direction are currently focused on the collapse of the northwestern and southwestern flanks of the Russian occupation forces.
“The Defense Forces of Ukraine progressively throughout this period of time, starting from, if I’m not mistaken, on May 12, systematic counterattacks were carried out to advance on each of these sectors. Today, we advanced close to Klishchiivka, Verkhivka, and Yagidny. They have commanding peaks behind them, which make it possible to use artillery quite effectively to hit not only these settlements, but also the northern and southern sectors of Bakhmut,” Kovalenko said.
The military-political observer drew attention to the fact that the Defense Forces of Ukraine are destroying the Russian occupiers in Bakhmut without engaging in direct urban combat clashes with them.
“That is, we can cover the city, which is located in the lowlands, with the Russian positions with artillery fire without direct contact. The occupiers lose approximately two or three platoons only in Bakhmut itself. Roughly speaking, in a day they lose up to a company due to our artillery fire,” he noted.
Oleksandr Kovalenko believes that in the future the Defense Forces of Ukraine will move and liberate populated areas seized by the invaders and cut off the Russian logistics routes to Bakhmut.
