Aid to Ukraine: Americans and Europeans call for continued support

Despite the ongoing information attacks of Russian propaganda, over 70% of Europeans are still ready to accept Ukrainian refugees. Spain demonstrates the greatest openness – 90% of respondents said they would be happy to receive Ukrainians in their cities, homes and hearts, FREEDOM reports.

The Kremlin clearly miscalculated with the level of support. After the first weeks of Russia’s war against Ukraine, Russian propagandists said that the West was tired and did not want to help Kyiv.

In December, according to a survey by the Ronald Reagan Institute, 57% of Americans polled believe that their country should continue to provide any assistance to Ukraine. The vast majority of US citizens consider the Russian Federation an enemy – 82%. And the highest figure in recent years – 76% of respondents say that Ukraine is a close ally of Washington.

According to a Reuters-Ipsos poll, a third of Americans are in favor of sending troops to Ukraine. At the same time, both Kyiv and Washington have repeatedly stated: any participation of the American Armed Forces in the Russian-Ukrainian war is excluded. At the same time, a third of the respondents were against an increase in aid to Kyiv.

After 9 months of the Russian-Ukrainian war, more than half of Europeans support the supply of military aid to Kyiv, the results of a survey by the Bertelsmann Foundation showed.

The level of support for Ukraine remains the highest in Poland – 76%, while in Germany the number of supporters of military assistance to Ukraine has decreased by almost 10% compared to March. In Italy, more than a third of Italians want the country to actively help Kyiv. Recently, the Italian government approved a resolution to extend the supply of weapons to Ukraine until the end of 2023.

“Everyone agrees that only one person is responsible for this atrocity, for the destruction of civilian infrastructure, the Ukrainian energy system, for the fact that in Kyiv there is only three hours of electricity in winter, for the lives of civilians and military killed by this senseless, unreasonable and unmotivated war – Vladimir Putin. Italy must continue what the Draghi government has done with great seriousness to help by sending protective equipment to the Ukrainian people,” said Benedetto Della Vedova, member of the Italian Chamber of Deputies.
