The decision on security in Europe cannot be made by two parties. The European Union must be present in the negotiations between the United States and Russia on security guarantees.
This was stated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell in an interview with Die Welt, UA informs.
Josep Borrell reaffirmed his determination to involve the EU in the negotiations amid the crisis near the Ukrainian-Russian borders.
‘We do not want and should not be a neutral spectator for whom decisions will be made. That’s what U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken thinks, as he told me on December 23 in a telephone conversation’ – Borrell said.
He added that if Russia wants to talk about the security architecture in Europe, it is not just a question of the United States and Russia.
To remind, talks between the United States and Russia are scheduled for January 10. This was reported by a source in the White House. The United States will adhere to the principle of ‘nothing about our allies and partners without our allies and partners, including Ukraine’.
