Putin wants to divide the world supposedly between the West and BRICS+. But he has failed because everyone understands that he is a murderer and a terrorist, according to the Ukrainian president.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in an interview with The Times of India.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that any efforts to end the war in Ukraine should go beyond verbal commitments, pointing to the significant influence that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi can exert. In an interview with the Times of India, Zelenskyy underscored India’s potential to actively contribute to peace due to its large population, economic power, and international clout.

Zelenskyy suggested that tangible steps like blocking the Russian economy, restricting access to cheap energy resources, and hindering the Russian defense-industrial complex could substantially diminish Russia’s war capabilities. He encouraged India to use its leverage in these areas.

The Ukrainian President also raised the possibility of peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia taking place in India under Prime Minister Modi’s facilitation. However, he stressed that any talks should adhere to Ukraine’s terms, with the ongoing conflict happening on Ukrainian territory. Zelenskyy cited the Peace Summit as the existing platform for such discussions.

Additionally, he reiterated that Ukraine’s victory plan and pursuit of NATO membership aim to solidify the country’s position in future negotiations, clarifying that the victory plan is not negotiable with Russia. “We seek NATO membership so that no one can change their mind in the future,” Zelenskyy stated, underscoring the strategic importance of these objectives.

More statements from Zelenskyy during the interview:

  • Neutrality exclusively benefits the Russian Federation. There can be no neutrality between an aggressor and a victim.
  • Those at the BRICS summit who spoke about their neutrality or wanting to help resolve the conflict appear more pro-Russian. This is not about peace, because Russia started and continues this war. Therefore, it is about war.
  • India’s Prime Minister Modi could influence ending the war in Ukraine by blocking Russia’s economy, energy resources, and defense industry.
  • Zelenskyy allowed for the possibility of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia in India and urged Modi to help return Ukrainian children forcibly deported to Russia.
  • If the major economies of the world, such as India, China, Turkey, and others, were not helping Russia “survive” in this war, then sanctions would be fully effective. Currently, they are only partially effective.
  • Much depends on the U.S. elections, but not everything. Policy changes not only with a leader; bipartisan support for Ukraine will remain. We have established strong relations with the U.S. Congress.
  • “A person is more important than land. We can reclaim land, but we cannot bring back a person. This is the principle we live by,” Zelenskyy said in an interview.
  • There are around 650,000 killed and wounded in Russia.
  • “We are against a frozen conflict. We do not want a Third World War.”
