In his first speech since winning the Ukrainian presidential election by a landslide victory, soon-to-be Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told supporters “I will never let you down.”
“While I am not formally president yet, as a citizen of Ukraine I can tell all post-Soviet countries: ‘Look at us! Everything is possible!'” he said.
Zelensky will be elected for a five-year term.
Current President Petro Poroshenko acknowledged Zelensky’s win but pledged to remain involved in politics.
Among other things, Zelensky, who is 41, is known for a political satire in which he is playing a teacher who accidentally becomes president of Ukraine.
