Western support for Ukraine should increase. At the moment, this assistance represents a small percentage of the gross domestic product (GDP) of Western countries, so there are no financial barriers to increasing assistance to Ukraine. This opinion was expressed on the FREEDOM TV channel by Lithuanian statesman and politician, Member of the European Parliament Petras Au\u0161trevi\u010dius<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWestern support for Ukraine should not only remain at the 2023 level, but also increase. Today, it must be admitted that the West is helping Ukraine, but this assistance constitutes a very small part of the gross product of Western countries, and therefore it is possible and necessary to increase it. Financially, I don\u2019t see any barriers or big problems,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Political events in Western countries, such as elections, may change attitudes towards Ukraine, the expert noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis year is full of different elections in the West. I really hope that a significant majority of Western countries will help Ukraine, because we understand what we can risk – not only the fate of Ukraine, but the transformation of the entire Western world into a subject of aggressive provocation on the part of Russia,\u201d Au\u0161trevi\u010dius emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Previously, all 27 member states of the European Union agreed to support a four-year program for Ukraine worth 50 billion euros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI hope that the 50 billion euros of aid that is now being considered by the European Union will be supported by 27 countries. [Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor] Orb\u00e1n began to change his line again and became more supportive. But if he makes a mistake again, starts some games again, then it is necessary to discard this and work for 26, and maybe even 25 support countries. If we flirt and help comes late, then this is also a big risk for Ukraine,\u201d the politician noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
