We expect that Crimean museums will object to the application of the Law of Ukraine \u201cOn Museums and Museum Affairs\u201d. On the other hand, we will present arguments in favor of the application of the 1970 UNESCO Convention. Both Ukrainian law and international law support the return of treasures to Ukraine. We will prepare for the proceedings in the Supreme Court together with a special adviser at the Supreme Court\u201d \u2013 the lawyer said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also noted that Ukraine\u2019s position was that international law required the exhibits to be returned to their country of origin in the current situation, and that the exhibits belonged to the state of Ukraine. His colleague Gert-Jan van den Berg added that the case was unique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe fact is that this case is unique in the modern history of law. The 1970 UNESCO Convention, which we used to substantiate Ukraine&#8217;s claims, together with Ukrainian law, has never been applied in such a case.
