{"id":434653,"date":"2021-09-28T12:20:00","date_gmt":"2021-09-28T09:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uatv.ua\/?p=434653"},"modified":"2021-09-28T16:56:21","modified_gmt":"2021-09-28T13:56:21","slug":"a-high-level-week-ended-at-the-un-general-assembly-in-new-york","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uatv.ua\/en\/a-high-level-week-ended-at-the-un-general-assembly-in-new-york\/","title":{"rendered":"A high-level week ended at the UN General Assembly in New York"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The President of the <strong>UN <\/strong>General Assembly <strong>Abdullah Shahid<\/strong> closed the high-level week, which was attended by about a hundred heads of state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/uatv.ua\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UA<\/a> with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukrinform.ua\/rubric-world\/3323177-na-genasamblei-oon-u-nujorku-zaversivsa-tizden-visokogo-rivna.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reference<\/a> to Ukrinform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe UN has taken a <strong>significant <\/strong>and bold step to end the pandemic. We must build on this <strong>success <\/strong>and move forward. However, the true measure of our success remains our willingness and ability to engage in <strong>dialogue <\/strong>and believe in a multilateral system\u201d \u2013 Shahid said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The head of the UN General Assembly said that <strong>194 <\/strong>speakers had spoken at the session in a week, including <strong>100 <\/strong>heads of state, <strong>52 <\/strong>heads of government, three vice presidents and <strong>34 <\/strong>ministers. This year, only <strong>18 <\/strong>of the <strong>194 <\/strong>speakers were women, so, according to Shahid, \u201cmore needs to be done to balance the scales\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A clear set of issues was <strong>discussed <\/strong>during the week: COVID-19, climate change, peace, security and the risks of instability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe fact that each of these issues <strong>dominated speaks<\/strong> what the world wants\u201d \u2013 Shahid said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that the UN must now address these issues \u201cin such a way as to turn every challenge into an <strong>opportunity <\/strong>to strengthen the multilateral approach and achieve results on the ground\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To remind, <strong>Acting Director<\/strong> of the Directorate\u00a0General for\u00a0International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine <strong>Valentyn Skuratovskyi<\/strong> said that the speech of the President of Ukraine at the UN <strong>General Assembly<\/strong> will set the tone in the work of the organization for the year ahead.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The President of the UN General Assembly Abdullah Shahid closed the high-level &#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":434658,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[49,50],"tags":[78],"sources":[],"class_list":["post-434653","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news-en","category-svit-en","tag-homepage-en"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
