President <\/strong>of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the Secretary-General<\/strong> of the United Nations Antonio Guterres as part of his participation in the 76th<\/strong> session of the UN General Assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is reported by UA<\/a> with the reference to the Office of President of Ukraine<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The head of state stressed that Ukraine is ready to support <\/strong>the efforts of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, in particular, in the issue of reforming <\/strong>the Organization and strengthening <\/strong>its role in overcoming global challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRussian aggression remains <\/strong>such a challenge <\/strong>for our region\u201d \u2013 said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The President gave a list of nearly 450 Ukrainians<\/strong> held in the temporarily occupied territories <\/strong>and in Russia to the Secretary-General of the United Nations. He asked Antonio Guterres<\/strong> for assistance in the release of the prisoners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The head of state thanked Antonio Guterres for supporting the sovereignty <\/strong>and territorial integrity <\/strong>of Ukraine and briefed him on the current security situation in Donbas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUkraine supported your call for a global ceasefire <\/strong>last year. Shelling of Ukrainian positions continues despite all our peaceful <\/strong>efforts\u201d \u2013 Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The head of state told the Secretary-General of the United Nations<\/strong> about the results of the Crimean Platform<\/strong> summit and noted that Ukraine counts on the full support of the work of this initiative from the Organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAchieving the ultimate goal of the Crimean Platform – the return <\/strong>of Crimea – will restore respect for the Charter <\/strong>of the United Nations. I believe that facilitating the implementation <\/strong>of the decisions of the Crimean Platform is the responsibility of the Organization\u201d \u2013 the President stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The head of state noted the significant <\/strong>role of the Secretary-General in ensuring effective coordination at the United Nations of the implementation of two important resolutions <\/strong>of the General Assembly for Ukraine regarding the human rights <\/strong>situation in the occupied Crimea and the militarization of the peninsula<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They discussed the participation <\/strong>of Ukraine in United Nations peacekeeping operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is important that more than 300 Ukrainian blue helmets are performing <\/strong>tasks in six UN peacekeeping operations.\u00a0 Ukraine will continue to contribute <\/strong>to the common cause of strengthening international peace and security\u201d \u2013 the President stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volodymyr Zelenskyy positively noted the entry of Ukraine into the top ten countries<\/strong> \u2013 the largest suppliers of goods and services for the needs of the UN<\/strong> Secretariat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are ready to increase our participation <\/strong>in the supply of goods and services, including for peacekeeping operations, in the IT sector and in the supply of food. Many Ukrainian <\/strong>companies are able to supply quality goods and services at competitive prices\u201d \u2013 said the head of the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
