{"id":424783,"date":"2021-06-01T09:14:26","date_gmt":"2021-06-01T06:14:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uatv.ua\/refat-chubarov-was-sentenced-to-6-years-in-prison-in-crimea\/"},"modified":"2021-06-01T09:14:26","modified_gmt":"2021-06-01T06:14:26","slug":"refat-chubarov-was-sentenced-to-6-years-in-prison-in-crimea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uatv.ua\/en\/refat-chubarov-was-sentenced-to-6-years-in-prison-in-crimea\/","title":{"rendered":"Refat Chubarov was sentenced to 6 years in prison in Crimea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-62453\" src=\"https:\/\/uatv.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/237ef4b1-ad09-4c7c-96c2-89d33545060f.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"410\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Photo: Telegram Lyudmila Denisova<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people <strong>Refat Chubarov<\/strong> was illegally sentenced by the &#8220;Supreme Court of Crimea&#8221; to 6 years in prison in a general regime colony, to a fine of 200,000 Russian rubles and 200 hours of correctional labor for allegedly &#8220;organizing mass riots&#8221; in February 26, 2014 under the walls of the Crimean parliament.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/eng.uatv.ua\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>UATV<\/strong><\/a> reports this referring to the Telegram-page of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights <strong>Lyudmila Denisova<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Ombudswoman emphasized that from the beginning of the trial Refat Chubarov had been deprived of the right to a fair trial, access to justice and effective legal protection, which is a direct violation of articles 6 and 13 of the European Convention on Human Rights.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Denisova noted that she did not recognize the decision of the so-called &#8220;Supreme Court of Crimea.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Today&#8217;s verdict is another demonstration that the occupying country continues its policy of persecution and repression of Ukrainian citizens.
