Belarus remains a reliable partner for Ukraine helping bring peace to the Ukrainian territory, and the Ukrainian-Belarusian border is the border of peace and cooperation. This was stated<\/a> by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during the final part of the Second Forum of the Regions of Ukraine and Belarus in Zhytomyr.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur cooperation was, is and will always be consistent and constructive. This is what it should be between friend and closest neighbors,\u201d Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted in his speech.<\/p>\n

Zelensky thanked President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko for a meaningful and frank conversation, which has once again shown that there were no closed topics for discussion.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe thank Belarus and Mr. President personally for the fact that, in the context of the Russian aggression against our country, the Ukrainian-Belarusian border remains the border of peace and cooperation. We appreciate it. As well as the fact that Belarus provides a platform for negotiations of the Trilateral Contact Group on the situation in our Ukrainian Donbas,\u201d Zelensky emphasized.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is great that Belarus remains a reliable partner for Ukraine helping to achieve peace in our country\u2019s territory. Territory within the borders recognized by the world community, where Crimea and Donbas are and will always be Ukraine,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Zelensky stands for holding such a Ukrainian-Belarusian forum on a regular basis in order to strengthen the partnership between the two countries in all spheres and not only at the level of the two capitals, but also at the level of regions and individual enterprises.<\/p>\n

Zelensky greeted all participants of the Second Forum of the Regions of Ukraine and Belarus and thanked the organizers for the fact that, despite the reboot of authorities in Ukraine, this “significant event in the relations between the two states” took place.<\/p>\n

In addition to security and border issues, culture was also a topic<\/a> at the forum<\/p>\n

\u201cI will note the successful holding of the Days of Ukrainian Culture in Belarus in 2018 in Minsk, Aleksandriya and Gomel. I think we should definitely hold Days of Belarus in Ukraine. And we will do it after the reorganization of the Ministry of Culture is completed,\u201d Zelensky said.<\/p>\n

According to him, one of the positive examples of the partnership between the two countries in the humanitarian sphere is the launch of the broadcast of the Ukrainian state-owned channel UATV in the cable networks of Belarusian operators, which took place this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have discussed this issue with Mr. President and we expect other Ukrainian channels, both commercial and state-owned, to appear in cable and satellite networks. I think this is a very good idea. And vice versa, we expect Belarusian channels in our networks,\u201d Zelensky said.<\/p>\n

In addition, Zelensky drew attention to the potential of cooperation between the two countries in the field of tourism.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are always glad to see Belarusian citizens in Ukraine: on the shores of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, in the Carpathian Mountains and Ukrainian cities and towns filled with colorful history and architecture. And it is interesting for many Ukrainians to get acquainted with Belarusian cities, iconic monuments of history and architecture, incredible Belarusian Polesia,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Lukashenko stressed that the dialogue of cultures had a special place in the relations between the two countries. In particular, he recalled the Days of Culture of Ukraine in Belarus.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour bands, artists, became the decoration of the Slavianski Bazaar international festival in Vitebsk, the Kupala holiday in Aleksandriya. We are glad that Belarusian performers are also popular in Ukraine,\u201d Lukashenko said.<\/p>\n

Multiple agreements were signed<\/a> at the forum as well.\u00a0In particular, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vadym Prystaiko and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Vladimir Makei signed the Interagency Plan of Consultations.<\/p>\n

Also, First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Yuriy Poliukhovych and Chair of the State Committee on Science and Technology of Belarus Alexander Shumilin signed the Executive Program of Scientific, Technical and Innovative Cooperation.<\/p>\n

The program was designed to implement the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of Belarus on cooperation in the field of science and technology of December 17, 1992 and the decisions of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Belarusian Commission on Cooperation in the field of science and technology. The introduction of the document will further develop Ukrainian-Belarusian scientific, technical and innovative cooperation.<\/p>\n

In addition, a number of cooperation agreements were signed between the individual regions of Ukraine and Belarus.<\/p>\n
