{"id":407223,"date":"2019-06-05T06:30:23","date_gmt":"2019-06-05T03:30:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uatv.ua\/zelenskyi-assures-eu-nato-will-stay-course\/"},"modified":"2019-06-05T06:30:23","modified_gmt":"2019-06-05T03:30:23","slug":"zelenskyi-assures-eu-nato-will-stay-course","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uatv.ua\/en\/zelenskyi-assures-eu-nato-will-stay-course\/","title":{"rendered":"Zelensky Assures EU and NATO Ukraine will Stay the Course"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-43497 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/uatv.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/picture-5-e1559716464683.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"368\" \/><\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\">Photo NATO<\/h5>\n<p>In his <a href=\"https:\/\/eng.uatv.ua\/zelenskyi-begins-first-foreign-trip\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">first foreign trip<\/a>, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reaffirmed that Ukraine will continue its path toward European and Euro-Atlantic integration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe strategic course of Ukraine in order to obtain full\u00a0membership in NATO, which is written in the Constitution of Ukraine, remains unchanged, this is a priority of our foreign policy,\u201d Zelensky said at a joint press conference with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Ukraine is a partner we highly appreciate,&#8221; Stoltenberg said. &#8220;After all, your country actively participates in NATO missions and exercises, says it intends to become part of the Alliance.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/eng.uatv.ua\/prokopchuk-russian-donbas-passport-scheme-intended-legitimize-russian-forces\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Issuing Russian passports<\/a>\u00a0in Donbas is the last attempt by the Russian Federation to destabilize the situation in eastern Ukraine.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Stoltenberg called on Russia to return the Ukrainian sailors that it took captive and the three naval vessels that it captured last November at the Kerch Strait. The ships had been headed for Mariupol, traveling from the Black Sea into the Sea of Azov when Russian naval forces stationed at Crimea, which Russia illegally annexed in 2014, <a href=\"https:\/\/eng.uatv.ua\/russia-attacks-seizes-ukrainian-ships-black-sea\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">attacked the ships<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In July, joint military exercises between NATO and Ukraine will occur in the Black Sea, where NATO has increased its presence with more ships and airplanes, Stoltenberg said.<\/p>\n<p>Zelensky said that Ukraine is ready to negotiate with Russia, ready to follow the terms of the Minsk agreements, but also needs to be able to defend itself and become stronger in economic, political, and military terms.<\/p>\n<p>Zelensky has also said that Ukraine <a href=\"https:\/\/eng.uatv.ua\/no-trading-ukrainian-territory-sovereignty-zelenskyi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">will not cede<\/a> any territory or sovereignty to the Russian Federation.<\/p>\n<p>Zelensky&#8217;s meeting with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker was in a similar vein, with Zelensky promising that Ukraine will continue moving toward European integration.
