Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi called on the IT community to unite efforts to implement e-governance. He said this while speaking at the iForum 2019 in Kyiv with the presentation “Guarantor of Innovation: Creating the Future Together,” the presidential website reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Zelenskyi noted that the use of digital technologies was much cheaper than the maintenance of bureaucracy. However, Ukraine, according to the United Nations data in 2018, is now behind Kazakhstan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Moldova, the Baltic states and Russia in the development of e-governance.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not because of the people. It\u2019s because of the system. You can consider me a naive dreamer, but we really want to create a country in a smartphone, a government in a smartphone. It is time to do it. We can\u2019t do it without you,\u201d Zelenskyi said.<\/p>\n

According to him, it is necessary to introduce e-governance at four levels: information about the state, communication, transactions with the state and involvement in state management.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt would be cool when you drive to work and not only get the news, information about the weather forecast, but also control the draft laws submitted, can change them, see what people are being elected and how you can revoke them, what petitions are being drafted. This is why I dream about our country in a smartphone. So that we can be the first in the world skipping the present stage, which is difficult for us to catch up with,\u201d Zelenskyi said.<\/p>\n

He also called on the IT community to cooperate. In particular, industry representatives can present their ideas to a freelance advisor to the President of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov.
