{"id":330583,"date":"2021-08-25T16:32:00","date_gmt":"2021-08-25T13:32:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uatv.ua\/?p=330583"},"modified":"2021-08-25T19:34:10","modified_gmt":"2021-08-25T16:34:10","slug":"ukraine-won-gold-and-silver-at-the-paralympics-in-tokyo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uatv.ua\/en\/ukraine-won-gold-and-silver-at-the-paralympics-in-tokyo\/","title":{"rendered":"Ukraine won &#8220;gold&#8221; and &#8220;silver&#8221; at the Paralympics in Tokyo"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Ukraine won its third and fourth medals at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo: fencer <strong>Artem Manko<\/strong> won a silver medal in wheelchair fencing. <strong>Yelizaveta Mereshko<\/strong> won &#8220;gold&#8221; in swimming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/uatv.ua\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UA<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;reports this with reference to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/paralympic.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">paralympic.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Artem Manko&#8217;s final fight against Chinese <strong>Li Hao<\/strong> ended with a score of 15:12 in favor of Hao. The Ukrainian derby took place in the semifinal match, where Artem Manko proved to be stronger than the 2016 Paralympic champion <strong>Andriy Demchuk.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the first individual award at the world level for Manko. Now the Ukrainian competes in the Paralympic category &#8220;A&#8221;, which includes athletes who can control the body well, and the functioning of the fencing arm does not depend on their injury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yelizaveta Mereshko became the first in the 50-meter freestyle. For Mereshko, this is the fifth &#8220;gold&#8221; in her career. In 2016, at the Games in Rio de Janeiro, she won the distances of 50, 100, 400 meters in freestyle and 100 meters in backstroke swimming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To remind, Ukrainian fencer <strong>Yevhenia Breus<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/uatv.ua\/en\/the-first-medals-of-ukraine-at-the-paralympics-in-tokyo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">won<\/a> a bronze medal, and swimmer <strong>Anton Kol<\/strong> won silver at the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To remind, the XVI Summer Paralympic Games&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/uatv.ua\/en\/ukraine-will-be-represented-by-143-athletes-at-the-paralympic-games-in-tokyo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">officially started<\/a>&nbsp;on August 24 in Tokyo.
