This is according to The New York Times. The publication notes that the Kremlin continues to stick to its own strategy, even though Moscow has yet to achieve its stated goals. At the same time, the Russian side has had no battlefield successes for several years now, and Putin has little time left to find a way out of this war. <a href=\"https:\/\/uatv.ua\/en\/\">UATV English<\/a> reports in more detail.<\/p>\n   <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Putin has two months left to come up with at least some kind of victory in the war against Ukraine and sell it to Russians ahead of the State Duma elections. This is according to The Independent. Otherwise, the consequences for the Kremlin could be enormous. Despite Moscow&#8217;s claims of success, the Russian army has still failed to achieve a decisive breakthrough at the front, while Ukraine continues to intensify strikes on the Russian rear. According to the publication, one of Putin&#8217;s possible responses could be partial or full mobilization.<\/p>\n    <blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The more strikes Ukraine carries out, the more the possible terms of a peace deal could shift. Because even the &#8216;Z-war correspondents&#8217; themselves are writing: if before we were offered a stop along the line of contact, tomorrow, or even today, no one will be offering us that. But Putin, as before, stubbornly keeps trying to prove that the most important thing is to take Kostiantynivka,&#8221; noted Olga Kurnosova, secretary of the Russian Opposition Forum in Support of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n   <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The New York Times, citing sources close to the Kremlin, writes that Putin views the war as his main tool of pressure on Ukraine and the West. In the Russian dictator&#8217;s view, ending hostilities without prior concessions would supposedly strip him of his key leverage.<\/p>\n    <blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I&#8217;m absolutely certain that the main obstacle to any negotiations is Putin personally. Any next person \u2014 and I stress again, no matter how strange they might seem to us at first glance \u2014 would be far more flexible, far more mobile, and far more capable of negotiating than today&#8217;s Putin, who has become rigid in his messianic, utterly idiotic idea,&#8221; Olga Kurnosova emphasized.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n   <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In reality, Putin&#8217;s war is putting pressure above all on Russia&#8217;s own economy and future. In the &#8220;gas station country,&#8221; a gasoline shortage is already being recorded in at least 78 of 83 regions. Fuel prices have risen by nearly 20% over the past year. At the same time, gasoline is running short, gas stations are closing, and huge lines are forming at those that remain open. One reason is Ukraine&#8217;s successful strikes on Russia&#8217;s oil industry. According to Radio Svoboda, among Russia&#8217;s ten largest oil refineries, not a single one has escaped attacks. Reuters writes that Putin&#8217;s advisers proposed he agree to peace because of worsening economic problems, but he refused.<\/p>\n    <blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The decision to end hostilities is made by Putin personally. And since the arguments that could influence him hardly lend themselves to any sound analysis, he is maximally shielded from outside sources of information \u2014 he lives in his own world, and rational arguments don&#8217;t work on him. As for the elites, they see this crisis, they understand it has already reached the point of no return, and that this crisis will bring not just economic consequences but horrific social upheavals for Russia,&#8221; noted Vitaliy Kulyk, director of the Center for Civil Society Studies.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n   <p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Russia&#8217;s fuel crisis is already hitting Putin&#8217;s approval rating. This is shown by polling results from the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM). Even the Kremlin-controlled VTsIOM recorded a decline in trust toward the Russian dictator and approval of his actions. The drop in figures is also confirmed by research from the government-affiliated &#8220;Public Opinion&#8221; foundation. Putin&#8217;s rating has been falling for a second consecutive week. According to the polls, one of the main irritants for Russians has become the gasoline shortage and rising fuel prices \u2014 cited by one in five respondents.<\/p>\n    <blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;As for these ratings, I wouldn&#8217;t put too much stock in their reliability, given that all these ratings come out under the tight control of Russian security services and the presidential administration. Clearly, such a visible decline is beneficial to certain factions within the Kremlin.
