{"id":1401494,"date":"2026-07-06T18:44:00","date_gmt":"2026-07-06T15:44:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uatv.ua\/?p=1401494"},"modified":"2026-07-05T11:38:51","modified_gmt":"2026-07-05T08:38:51","slug":"germany-s-draft-budget-with-11-6-billion-for-ukraine-includes-record-borrowing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uatv.ua\/en\/germany-s-draft-budget-with-11-6-billion-for-ukraine-includes-record-borrowing\/","title":{"rendered":"Germany\u2019s Draft Budget With \u20ac11.6 Billion for Ukraine Includes Record Borrowing"},"content":{"rendered":" <p>Germany\u2019s next federal budget, which allocates \u20ac11.6 billion for Ukraine, \u043f\u0440\u0435\u0434\u0443\u0441\u043c\u0430\u0442\u0440\u0438\u0432\u0430\u0435\u0442 increasing government borrowing in 2027 to more than \u20ac203 billion, marking a much larger increase than previously projected.<\/p>\n   <p>According to a draft budget reviewed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/german-draft-budget-foresees-more-than-203-billion-borrowing-document-shows-2026-07-03\/\">Reuters<\/a>, cited by <a href=\"https:\/\/uatv.ua\/en\/\">UATV English<\/a>, planned borrowing has risen from the \u20ac196.5 billion forecast in April and is far above the \u20ac50.5 billion borrowed in 2024 under the previous government\u2014before Germany abandoned decades of fiscal conservatism last year in an effort to revive its economy.<\/p>\n   <p>The draft budget is based on the assumption that the conflict in the Middle East will ease over the summer. At the same time, it warns that if disruptions to the Strait of Hormuz or oil production facilities continue for longer, the consequences for the German economy could be far-reaching.<\/p>\n   <p>The 2027 draft budget, which forms part of Germany\u2019s medium-term financial plan through 2030, envisages total spending of \u20ac555.4 billion, up from the \u20ac543.3 billion approved in April.<\/p>\n   <p>Total investment is expected to reach \u20ac117.5 billion, nearly \u20ac40 billion more than originally planned. The increase follows the approval of a \u20ac500 billion infrastructure fund and changes to Germany\u2019s fiscal rules allowing defense spending to be excluded from debt limits.<\/p>\n   <p>Germany\u2019s special infrastructure and climate fund will focus primarily on transport, digitalization, and hospital infrastructure, highlighting the sectors Berlin considers most in need of modernization after years of underinvestment.<\/p>\n   <p>Core defense spending in the federal budget is expected to increase to \u20ac109 billion in 2027, compared with \u20ac82 billion in 2026. Including \u20ac11.6 billion allocated for Ukraine and \u20ac9.4 billion for other security-related expenditures, Germany\u2019s total defense spending will rise to \u20ac130.1 billion.<\/p>\n   <p>The Cabinet is expected to approve the initial draft on Monday, when the budget will be officially presented.
