Ukraine\u2019s Defense Forces carried out a large-scale strike against targets in Russia overnight on June 18. According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy<\/a>, one of the targets was the Moscow Oil Refinery, a facility that supplies a significant portion of the fuel consumed in Moscow and the surrounding region, UATV English<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n

Zelenskyy noted that this was the second time<\/a> within a week that Ukrainian drones had successfully reached and struck the refinery.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast night, our long-range sanctions once again reached the Moscow region: for the second time in a week, the Moscow Oil Refinery was hit. Targets were also struck in the Rostov region and in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine,\u201d the president said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He described the strikes as a justified response to Russia\u2019s continued attacks against Ukrainian cities and communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cA completely fair response to Russian strikes against our cities and communities, and another important result of the work of our servicemen against facilities that sustain Russia\u2019s war machine. I thank Ukraine\u2019s Defense and Security Forces for their coordinated efforts \u2014 the SBU, the Unmanned Systems Forces, the Special Operations Forces, military intelligence, and our missile brigade for their precision,\u201d Zelenskyy emphasized.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

According to the president, the Kremlin must now take the necessary diplomatic steps to bring the war to an end.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn recent days, all of our partners have acknowledged the precision and effectiveness of our mid-range strikes and long-range sanctions. It is time to end this war, and Russia must take the necessary steps in diplomacy,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Earlier reports indicated that Russia is preparing to begin importing gasoline by sea due to a growing fuel shortage caused by Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian oil-refining infrastructure.\\<\/p>\n
