Germany, France, and the United Kingdom are working on a joint initiative aimed at encouraging Russian President Vladimir Putin to engage in peace negotiations, Bloomberg reported, citing sources familiar with the discussions,\u00a0UATV English<\/a>\u00a0reports.<\/p>\n

According to the report, the three key European allies are coordinating their efforts closely with Kyiv. Officials believe that growing Russian military losses and the increasingly stalemated situation on the battlefield could create an opportunity to push Moscow toward talks.<\/p>\n

The sources said European leaders hope to accelerate diplomatic efforts and potentially begin negotiations before winter, when Russia is expected to intensify strikes against Ukrainian civilians and critical energy infrastructure.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Bloomberg<\/a> noted that the final decision on whether to pursue negotiations with Russia remains entirely with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe sources stressed that the ultimate decision on whether to pursue talks with Russia rests with Zelenskyy, and that European countries will not pressure the Ukrainian president into adopting a strategy he does not support,\u201d the publication reported.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

According to the outlet, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is expected to hold talks in the coming days with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and French President Emmanuel Macron as part of the ongoing coordination.<\/p>\n
