Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who took part in the Berlin summit on peace in Ukraine, said that if Russia attacks Ukraine again, the United States will respond to the aggressor with military force, UATV English<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was quoted by Onet<\/em> <\/a>as saying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tusk stated that for the first time he heard from U.S. negotiators that the United States \u201cwill commit to providing Ukraine with security guarantees in such a way that the Russians will have no doubts that (in the event of a ceasefire violation \u2014 ed.) the U.S. response will be military.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him, U.S. President\u2019s special envoy Steve Witkoff \u201cwas unequivocal on this point.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is a fact that for the first time it has become so clear that the Americans, Europeans, and Ukraine are on the same side,\u201d the Polish prime minister said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The head of the Polish government also stressed that the only real chance to persuade Russia to engage in serious negotiations on ending the war, or \u201cat least on a ceasefire,\u201d is the unity of the entire West.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe need to remain allies together with the Americans and Ukrainians so that the Russians and Putin see that it is impossible to drive a wedge between these three sides,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tusk also noted that the issue of possible territorial concessions remains open and extremely complex, requiring serious consideration by Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He emphasized that Poland will not exert pressure on this matter and that any decision can be based only on the assessments and calculations of the Ukrainians themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur task is to support them in these negotiations so that there can be no talk of any Russian triumph in this confrontation. But this remains a very difficult task,\u201d Tusk added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to U.S. media sources, Washington believes that \u201c90% of the disagreements\u201d between Ukraine and Russia were resolved following the Berlin talks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine will not agree to either legal or \u201cde facto\u201d recognition of occupied Donetsk region as Russian and acknowledged that no compromise has yet been reached on this issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also said that he sees readiness on the part of the United States to provide Ukraine with legally binding security guarantees operating on the principle of NATO\u2019s Article 5, while parallel measures by European partners are also being discussed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
