{"id":1258340,"date":"2025-11-23T14:55:36","date_gmt":"2025-11-23T12:55:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uatv.ua\/?p=1258340"},"modified":"2025-11-23T14:55:41","modified_gmt":"2025-11-23T12:55:41","slug":"head-of-the-european-commission-outlines-three-essential-principles-of-a-peace-plan-for-ukraine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uatv.ua\/en\/head-of-the-european-commission-outlines-three-essential-principles-of-a-peace-plan-for-ukraine\/","title":{"rendered":"Head of the European Commission outlines three essential principles of a \u201cpeace plan\u201d for Ukraine"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said on Sunday that Ukraine\u2019s European allies have agreed on key principles that must form the basis of any \u201cpeace plan\u201d for Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is stated in a release on the European Commission\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/commission\/presscorner\/detail\/en\/statement_25_2791\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to von der Leyen, any credible and sustainable peace plan for Ukraine \u201cmust first and foremost stop the killing and put an end to the war, without sowing the seeds of a future conflict.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She added that the first core element of such a plan must be the inadmissibility of changing borders by force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSecond, as a sovereign state, Ukraine cannot have limitations on its armed forces that would leave the country vulnerable to future attacks and thereby undermine European security,\u201d the head of the European Commission said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the third principle mentioned by von der Leyen, \u201cthe central role of the European Union in ensuring peace in Ukraine must be fully reflected.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cUkraine must have the freedom and sovereign right to choose its own destiny. It has chosen a European future. This begins with rebuilding the country, integrating it into our single market and our defence industrial base, and ultimately with its accession to our Union,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Separately, the President of the European Commission stressed the need to \u201creturn every Ukrainian child abducted by Russia.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOf all the horrors caused by Russia\u2019s war, none is as painful as this. Tens of thousands of boys and girls remain in captivity in Russia. They are frightened and miss their loved ones.
