U.S. President Donald Trump claims he can achieve an end to Russia\u2019s war against Ukraine, arguing that Moscow would like to \u201cdo business\u201d with the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He made the remarks in an interview with CBS News.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked whether it was possible to end the war \u201cwithin a couple of months,\u201d Trump expressed confidence that it could happen: \u201cI think we\u2019ll get there, yes,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president believes that the Kremlin\u2019s desire for economic relations with the U.S. could motivate Russia toward peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think he (Putin) very much wants to do business with the United States \u2014 it worked with India, it worked with Pakistan, and it worked with 60% of these countries,\u201d<\/em> Trump noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that threats of tariffs had helped him settle conflicts in the past \u2014 though the interviewer pointed out that this approach hadn\u2019t worked with Putin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI dealt with him differently, because, on the one hand, we don\u2019t have much business with Russia, you know? He\u2019s not the type who buys a lot from us \u2014 because of stupidity. But I think he would like to. I think he wants to come and trade with us, to make a lot of money for Russia, and I think that\u2019s great. That\u2019s what I like,\u201d<\/em> Trump said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump also stated that there is no \u201cfinal straw\u201d<\/strong> that would convince him Putin is unwilling to end the war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further confirmed that he currently does not plan to transfer long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the same interview, President Trump said that the United States possesses the largest nuclear arsenal in the world \u2014 enough to destroy the planet 150 times.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He emphasized that the U.S. has more nuclear weapons than any other country, with Russia ranking second and China third \u2014 though China, he said, could catch up within five years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have enough nuclear weapons to blow up the world 150 times. Russia has a lot, and China will have a lot. They have some already \u2014 quite a few \u2014 but\u2026\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump underscored the importance of talking with Russian and Chinese leaders about denuclearization and justified his intention to resume nuclear testing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou have to see how the elements work. The reason I talk about testing is that Russia announced it would conduct tests. If you noticed, North Korea tests all the time. Other countries test. We\u2019re the only country that doesn\u2019t, and I don\u2019t want to be the only one not testing,\u201d<\/em> the president stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the journalist noted that Russia had tested only delivery systems rather than nuclear weapons themselves, Trump insisted otherwise:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRussia is testing, and China is testing \u2014 they just don\u2019t talk about it. You know, we\u2019re an open society. We\u2019re different. We talk about it \u2014 otherwise, you people would report on it. They don\u2019t have reporters who write about it. We do. No, we\u2019re going to test, because they test and others test. And certainly North Korea tests. Pakistan tests,\u201d<\/em> Trump said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As previously reported, Trump has instructed the Pentagon to immediately resume nuclear weapons testing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His statement came amid Vladimir Putin\u2019s boasts about testing the Burevestnik<\/em> cruise missile equipped with a nuclear propulsion system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance commented that Trump\u2019s proposal to potentially resume nuclear testing is linked to the need to maintain the functionality of the nuclear arsenal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
