{"id":1245184,"date":"2025-11-01T18:04:00","date_gmt":"2025-11-01T16:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uatv.ua\/?p=1245184"},"modified":"2025-11-01T13:34:03","modified_gmt":"2025-11-01T11:34:03","slug":"russian-economy-shows-systemic-decline-ukrainian-intelligence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uatv.ua\/en\/russian-economy-shows-systemic-decline-ukrainian-intelligence\/","title":{"rendered":"Russian Economy Shows Systemic Decline \u2014 Ukrainian Intelligence"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Russia\u2019s economy has entered a phase where <strong>even official statistics can no longer conceal the scale of its problems<\/strong>, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/szru.gov.ua\/news-media\/news\/rosiiski-korporatsii-fiksuyut-zbytky-ekonomika-demonstruie-systemne-padinnya\">Ukraine\u2019s Foreign Intelligence Service<\/a> (SZRU).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The agency reports that the <strong>aggregate profit of Russian enterprises fell by 8.3%<\/strong> in the first eight months of 2025 \u2014 a figure that indicates a <strong>systemic contraction of business activity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>credit market also reflects growing instability<\/strong>: the share of troubled corporate borrowers has reached <strong>23%<\/strong>, while <strong>around 165,000 companies<\/strong> can no longer service their debts. This, the SZRU notes, shows that <strong>Russia\u2019s corporate sector has lost financial resilience<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the clearest indicators is the <strong>collapse of the coal industry<\/strong>, long considered a pillar of Russian exports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The share of unprofitable coal enterprises has reached <strong>67%<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cumulative losses for January\u2013August totaled <strong>263.2 billion rubles<\/strong>, increasing by <strong>38.2 billion rubles<\/strong> in just one month.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Profits have halved, while losses have grown <strong>2.6 times<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cA sector that was supposed to generate foreign currency has turned into a black hole for the state budget,\u201d the intelligence report states.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>services sector<\/strong> is also showing severe strain. <em>Russian Post<\/em> reported a <strong>4.5% drop in core service revenues<\/strong> and a <strong>9.3% decline in financial intermediation income<\/strong>.<br>Gross profitability fell <strong>2.5 times<\/strong>, while losses from sales jumped <strong>5.7 times<\/strong> to <strong>10.7 billion rubles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Short-term liabilities now <strong>exceed current assets by 25.6 billion rubles<\/strong>, five times more than a year ago \u2014 a <strong>classic sign of a liquidity crisis<\/strong>, according to the report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>metallurgical giant Norilsk Nickel<\/strong> has seen its <strong>net profit drop by 39%<\/strong> and expenses rise by <strong>34%<\/strong> due to higher interest rates, with simultaneous declines in the production of nickel, copper, palladium, and platinum \u2014 signaling <strong>a loss of global competitiveness<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, <strong>Gazprom<\/strong> has reported a <strong>net loss of 170.3 billion rubles<\/strong> over nine months \u2014 a dramatic reversal for a company that for decades was a key donor to the Russian state budget.<br><strong>Russian Railways (RZD)<\/strong> also posted a <strong>loss of 4.2 billion rubles<\/strong>, adding to the picture of decline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cAll these data points form a single pattern: the Russian economy is losing its ability to generate profit even in traditionally strong sectors.
