On October 1, 2015<\/strong>, the Ukrainian international broadcasting channel UATV<\/strong> went on air for the first time. It was created to promote Ukraine worldwide and counter Kremlin propaganda. In December of the same year<\/strong>, the parliament adopted the Law \u201cOn the System of Ukrainian International Broadcasting.\u201d<\/strong> Over 10 years of its new history, Ukrainian international broadcasting has become a reliable tool for promoting the Ukrainian agenda in the international information space: broadcast channels transmit content via 6 satellites<\/strong>, networks of national cable, DTH, and IPTV operators in 44 countries<\/strong>, and 20 international OTT platforms<\/strong>; 16 YouTube channels<\/strong> have accumulated 4.5 million subscribers<\/strong> and 2.9 billion views.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n

Today, the State Enterprise \u201cThe International Broadcasting Multimedia Platform of Ukraine\u201d (SE IBMPU) <\/strong>unites seven media brands<\/strong> \u2013 FREE\u0414\u041e\u041c<\/a>, \u201cDim<\/a>,\u201d UATV.English<\/a>, UATV.Arabic<\/a>, UATV.Espa\u00f1ol<\/a>, The Gaze<\/a>, UATV.Portugu\u00eas<\/a><\/strong>, which produce and broadcast content in six languages<\/a><\/strong> (English, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Ukrainian) via two TV channels<\/strong> and over fifty digital platforms<\/strong> on all popular digital platforms, including 16 YouTube channels<\/strong>, accounts on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Telegram, X, WhatsApp Threads<\/strong>. For autumn 2025<\/strong>, the launch of two more YouTube channels<\/strong> is planned \u2013 UATV German<\/strong> and UATV Turkish.<\/strong> Also, in 2025, MPIU launched two FAST channels in Ukrainian<\/strong> with content from the Dim TV channel<\/strong> and a 24\/7 stream under the UATV.English brand<\/strong> with content from various international broadcasting channels, adapted into English.<\/p>\n

On air and on digital platforms, MPIU provides verified information important for Ukraine to viewers worldwide. Currently, the digital ecosystem of international broadcasting counts 6.5 million subscribers<\/strong>. Since the beginning of 2025, content across all digital platforms has already gathered over 1.14 billion views<\/strong>. The highest numbers<\/strong> are on the YouTube channels FREE\u0414\u041e\u041c<\/a>, FREE\u0414\u041e\u041c.LIVE<\/a>, UATV.English<\/a>, and Dim<\/a>.<\/strong> Views from abroad for Russian-language content reach 90%<\/strong>, while English, Arabic, Spanish, and Portuguese content reaches 99%<\/strong>. The total number of YouTube subscribers is 4.5 million<\/strong>, of which 4.1 million joined the international broadcasting community since 2022<\/strong>, with 2.9 billion YouTube views<\/strong>, 2.75 billion of them since 2022.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Foreign viewers can watch the Ukrainian-language channel Dim<\/strong> and the Russian-language FREE\u0414\u041e\u041c<\/strong> via six satellites<\/strong>, whose signals cover all of Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa<\/strong>, 20 international OTT platforms<\/strong>, and networks of over 900 national cable, DTH, and IPTV operators in 44 countries<\/a><\/strong> (with 20 countries added since 2022<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

“Over ten years, international broadcasting has gone through many changes and transformations, but our main goal \u2013 to be the voice of Ukraine in the world \u2013 remains unchanged. We focus on foreign audiences, taking their specifics into account, but always from a Ukrainian perspective. That is, our content, our messages \u2013 always a Ukrainian view of events, aligned with Ukrainian interests, questions of national security, communicating Ukrainian resilience, defeating our enemies, our protection, development, partnership. Now it is important for us to speak to the world about Ukraine not only through the prism of war, but also to show our ability to rebuild, the strength of our people, our identity, history, culture, science. So the world knows and understands, Ukraine is not just a war; Ukrainians have people to protect and things to fight for, and we will never surrender! At the same time, countering Russian propaganda, exposing enemy fakes and manipulations in different languages and for different audiences remains a priority, because it is clear that the Russian Federation does not intend to abandon them, but only intensifies its hybrid operations wherever it can. Therefore, we aim to increase the number of languages and platforms, so that the truth about Ukraine and the Ukrainian position in the world also becomes more widely known,”<\/em> \u2013 emphasizes Yulia Bin, CEO of MPIU.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The importance and effectiveness of international broadcasting are evidenced by extensive feedback from viewers<\/strong>, received through social networks, messengers, and YouTube channel communities. On the other hand, Ukrainian international media attract constant attention from Russian punitive authorities<\/strong>. Residents of Russia and temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine have repeatedly faced persecution for watching FREE\u0414\u041e\u041c<\/a><\/strong> or posting on our social networks. The FREE\u0414\u041e\u041c<\/a><\/strong> and Dim<\/a><\/strong> channels and websites are blocked in Russia and Belarus.<\/strong> Satellite broadcasting of FREE\u0414\u041e\u041c and Dim, digital platforms, and MPIU\u2019s IT infrastructure have repeatedly experienced criminal hacker interference<\/a>.<\/strong> Twice in 2025, Ukrainian state international broadcasting channels suffered missile strikes by the Russian army<\/a><\/strong>, causing significant destruction to buildings housing the editorial offices of FREE\u0414\u041e\u041c, Dim, UATV English, The Gaze, UATV Espa\u00f1ol, UATV Arabic, UATV Portugu\u00eas, digital editorial, service departments.<\/strong> However, neither Russian missile attacks nor hacker attacks could disrupt the operation of Ukrainian international media.<\/p>\n

Among IBMPUs’ near-term plans<\/strong> are the premiere of several new projects on Dim and FREE\u0414\u041e\u041c<\/strong>, expansion of language lines, scaling in digital, launching new proprietary FAST channels<\/strong>, launching digital radio<\/strong>, developing proprietary web applications<\/strong>, deepening the use of AI tools<\/strong>, and expanding the distribution network of broadcast channels abroad.<\/strong><\/p>\n

* Viewing measurement<\/strong> of MPIU channels via satellite, broadcast, and cable networks of different countries has not been conducted throughout the enterprise\u2019s operation due to the high cost of such research. Accordingly, when analyzing quantitative and qualitative viewing indicators and audience requests, MPIU relies on digital platform data, particularly YouTube.<\/strong><\/p>\n
