The urgent task of supplying Ukraine with arms sparked an extraordinary rise in military procurement across both the U.S. and Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Key defense firms have been central to this shift. U.S. companies RTX (formerly Raytheon) and Lockheed Martin, along with Europe\u2019s Rheinmetall, stand among the main winners. At the same time, Ukraine has emerged as the top arms importer worldwide, accounting for nearly 9% of total global deliveries \u2014 with almost half coming from the United States, further cementing its leadership in the defense market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Read more in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thegaze.media\/news\/the-war-in-ukraine-and-the-global-arms-market-who-has-profited-the-most\">article<\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0<strong>Bohdan Popov<\/strong>, Head of Digital at the United Ukraine Think Tank, communications specialist and public figure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Firstly, Popov emphasizes that U.S. defense giant RTX, the maker of the well-known Patriot air defense systems and Stinger portable missiles, has sharply increased both contracts and profits due to large-scale orders aimed at supporting Ukraine and restocking U.S. and allied arsenals. A considerable share of Washington\u2019s military aid package flows through RTX contracts, ensuring the company a steady income stream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lockheed Martin, which produces HIMARS launchers and GMLRS precision rockets, has likewise seen major gains. Annual output of GMLRS rockets has risen from 10,000 to more than 14,000, and new long-term contracts guarantee high production levels for years to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Secondly, the author argues that in Europe, Germany\u2019s Rheinmetall stands out as the clear leader, pouring investments into expanding production to meet soaring demand. Its revenues surpassed \u20ac10 billion in 2024, with even higher earnings expected in 2025, driven by fresh contracts for Ukraine and other Eastern European states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet European defense firms face major challenges: limited infrastructure, a shortage of skilled labor, and slow adaptation to mass production. As a result, some orders are being redirected to the United States, where manufacturing capacity is stronger and new contracts can be executed more quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ukraine, meanwhile, is using international support not only to purchase weapons but also to develop its own defense industry. Examples include the Rheinmetall Ukrainian Defense Industry joint venture in Kyiv, which produces ammunition and equipment, as well as cooperation with Czech company CZ to manufacture small arms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Partnerships also extend to drone production with firms from Latvia, Turkey, and the U.S. These projects boost Ukraine\u2019s technological self-reliance, generate employment, attract foreign capital, and make defense manufacturing a core element of the country\u2019s economic strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, the expert summarizes that Global weapons demand is expected to stay elevated for at least the next five years, even once the war in Ukraine eases. NATO members need to rebuild their stockpiles and reinforce Eastern Europe\u2019s defenses. While the U.S. will continue to dominate the sector, Rheinmetall\u2019s rapid growth highlights Europe\u2019s increasing role.
