Turkey has officially launched serial production of its jet-powered combat drone, Bayraktar Kizilelma<\/strong>, with the first deliveries expected in 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement was made by Sel\u00e7uk Bayraktar<\/strong>, head of the Turkish defense company Baykar<\/strong>, during an interview with Savunma Sanayi ST<\/a><\/em>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We started mass production of KIZILELMA this year. We expect it to enter the inventory next year. We\u2019re currently continuing production. The sixth KIZILELMA is already on the production line,”<\/strong> he stated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Bayraktar emphasized that Turkey, once unable to design its own aircraft<\/strong>, is now a global leader in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

🔹 Background<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Bayraktar Kizilelma<\/strong> project began with the unveiling of its design in 2021<\/strong> under the name MIUS<\/strong> (Muharip \u0130nsans\u0131z U\u00e7ak Sistemi \u2013 Combat Unmanned Aircraft System). Just a year later, it reached the prototype stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite initial plans to conduct the maiden flight in 2023, the first successful flight occurred ahead of schedule in December 2022<\/strong>. The second test flight followed in January 2023<\/strong>, and subsequent tests have also been successful<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

🔹 Ukrainian Engines and Technical Specs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In 2021<\/strong>, Baykar ordered AI-322F and AI-25TLT jet engines<\/strong> from Ukraine\u2019s state-owned Ivchenko-Progress<\/strong> to power Kizilelma. Deliveries continued through 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    🔹 Advanced Capabilities and Future Plans<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Kizilelma will feature:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Electro-optical targeting systems<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Infrared optical systems<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Multimode AESA radar<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      It will be armed with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • Laser-guided munitions<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Missiles<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Long-range cruise missiles<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Baykar also plans to develop MIUS-B<\/strong>, a supersonic variant powered by a more powerful AI-322F engine<\/strong> and later Turkey\u2019s indigenous TEI TF-6000<\/strong>, which is intended to replace the Ukrainian engines<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Turkey aims to produce 12 Kizilelma drones annually<\/strong> under the current plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
