{"id":1185115,"date":"2025-07-15T10:02:22","date_gmt":"2025-07-15T07:02:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uatv.ua\/?p=1185115"},"modified":"2025-07-15T10:02:27","modified_gmt":"2025-07-15T07:02:27","slug":"pistorius-decision-on-patriot-systems-for-ukraine-expected-within-days-or-weeks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uatv.ua\/en\/pistorius-decision-on-patriot-systems-for-ukraine-expected-within-days-or-weeks\/","title":{"rendered":"Pistorius: Decision on Patriot Systems for Ukraine Expected Within \u2018Days or Weeks\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Germany and the United States are set to make a decision within days or weeks on sending two U.S.-made Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said on Monday following talks with U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/aerospace-defense\/berlin-pledges-decision-patriots-kyiv-within-days-or-weeks-2025-07-14\/\"><em>Reuters<\/em> reports.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking in Washington, Pistorius confirmed that Germany has offered to purchase Patriot missile systems from the U.S. and transfer them to Ukraine, which has faced some of the most intense Russian missile attacks in recent weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He stated that working-level talks will continue to finalize the deal, including the number of launchers and missiles that could be included. If an agreement is reached, the first Patriot unit could arrive in Ukraine within a few months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pistorius declined to comment on whether offensive weapons were also discussed during the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Germany has already delivered three of its own Patriot systems to Ukraine, retaining just nine for itself \u2014 far fewer than the 36 batteries it held at the height of the Cold War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The German defense chief received a warm welcome in Washington, reflecting Germany\u2019s growing role in NATO\u2019s largest military buildup since the Cold War, after decades of underinvestment in defense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Previously, Pistorius stated that Germany could not send more of its own Patriot systems to Ukraine due to limited stock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the deployment of additional Patriot missile systems to Ukraine. \u201cSome of them will arrive very soon \u2014 in just a few days,\u201d he said, noting that several countries currently in possession of Patriot systems would \u201cexchange\u201d them, with the U.S. providing replacements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Monday, Trump also confirmed a new agreement between the U.S. and NATO: American-made weapons for Ukraine will be paid for by European allies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Read also:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/uatv.ua\/en\/zelenskyy-holds-phone-call-with-trump-rutte-discusses-defense-and-path-to-peace\/\">Zelenskyy Holds Phone Call with Trump, Rutte, Discusses Defense and Path to Peace<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Germany and the United States are set to make a decision within &#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":31,"featured_media":1143815,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[49,36415],"tags":[76,78],"sources":[],"class_list":["post-1185115","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news-en","category-11473-news-en","tag-glavnoe-en","tag-homepage-en"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.0 -
