The Russian military has become bogged down in Ukrainian defenses on the eastern front and is compensating for its battlefield failures by ramping up attacks on civilian targets, said Ants Kiviselg, head of the Estonian Defence Forces Intelligence Center, citing ERR<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Estonian intelligence, Russia\u2019s new offensive \u2014 now in its second month \u2014 has turned into a series of local tactical battles due to the strong resistance of Ukraine\u2019s Armed Forces. At the same time, Russian strikes on residential areas and civilian infrastructure are growing in scale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis clearly reflects the Kremlin\u2019s intent: when it fails to achieve military success, it resorts to outright terrorist tactics by targeting civilians to exert psychological pressure on the population,\u201d Kiviselg said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking ahead, he noted that Russia\u2019s strategic objectives remain unchanged. However, despite its efforts, Moscow is currently unable to achieve an operational breakthrough on any part of the front. Ukrainian defense forces, he added, are successfully containing the pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, it was reported that on the night of June 21, Russia launched a massive combined missile and drone attack on several Ukrainian regions. The primary target was Kremenchuk in the Poltava region, with Dnipropetrovsk and Kherson regions also coming under fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
