At the front during the past day<\/a>, there were 178 combat clashes. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the hottest situation is in the Pokrovsk, Lyman, and Toretsk directions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Russians will try, before the start of peace negotiations, to reach the administrative borders of Donetsk region and take control of key industrial cities that remain under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The goal of pressure from Chasiv Yar, which is practically already captured by the enemy, is to reach Kostiantynivka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The city of Chasiv Yar<\/strong> is of key importance for both sides of the war. The city is located on commanding heights. Control over them allows for fire control of large territories of Donetsk region \u2014 both occupied and controlled by Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chasiv Yar also covers the further advance of the Russians into Ukrainian territories. The city is, in fact, the key to Kostiantynivka, Druzhkivka, Sloviansk, Kramatorsk. Moreover, Chasiv Yar stands at the crossroads of main highways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, in case of pressure in the Toretsk<\/strong> direction (Toretsk \u2013 Kostiantynivka road), it is essentially about flanking encirclement of the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The activation of Russians in the Toretsk direction is not accidental. Toretsk is located about 10 km from occupied Horlivka. Toretsk is on commanding heights, just like Chasiv Yar. This means that control over Toretsk allows the Armed Forces of Ukraine to hold Horlivka agglomeration \u2014 which serves as operational rear areas for Russian troops \u2014 under fire control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The city is also important because it is a logistics center for Ukrainian defenders. That is why battles in this direction and possible occupation of the city would give the enemy certain advantages \u2014 the possibility of a flank strike on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kramatorsk direction. It would also allow them to control logistical routes connecting the operational rear of the Armed Forces with the combat zone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The battles for Toretsk have been ongoing for 8 months, which allows to tie up significant Russian forces and divert them from other directions of the Russian offensive. This is a strategic loss of time for Russia, as their forces are forced to conduct unnecessary concentration in this area, thereby reducing pressure on other fronts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sharp activation of the invaders in the Kupiansk<\/strong> direction is aimed not so much at occupying the city, but at advancing along the Oskil River to the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration. In addition, two days ago, the Russian Armed Forces also activated in the Lyman<\/strong> direction, where they have a strike force to reach that same agglomeration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sloviansk<\/strong> is of interest to Russia not only militarily but also economically, as it holds the largest shale gas deposits in Europe. Before the war with Russia, they were supposed to be developed by American companies, but then the attack happened. Do you think it was a coincidence? No! The issue of Ukraine\u2019s energy independence was blocked. Accordingly, now the Russians will make maximum efforts to prevent these shale gas deposits from falling under U.S. control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Lyman<\/strong> direction, the situation is currently difficult due to the redeployment of operational reserves of Russian troops. In particular, this concerns the transfer of units of the 3rd and 144th motorized rifle divisions of the Russian Armed Forces. In addition, units of the enemy’s 90th tank division are concentrated here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this direction, during the past day, the enemy attacked 26 times in the areas of Novoyehorivka, Novoliubivka, Hrekivka, Novoe, Katerynivka, and in the direction of Zelena Dolyna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heavy fighting is ongoing near the village of Bilohorivka in Luhansk region<\/strong>. The Russians control the commanding heights in the area of the settlement, which allows them to influence the nature of offensive actions near the Serebrianske forestry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Kharkiv <\/strong>region, there has been a sharp escalation of the situation in the Kupiansk direction, particularly near the village of Dvorichna. A sharp activation of combat operations by Russian occupiers has been recorded due to the redeployment of operational reserves from the Kursk direction. The Russians also aim to capture the railway station Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi in Kharkiv region for a further advance from the north to the cities of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk in Donetsk region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Vovchansk<\/strong> direction, the enemy is trying to use a combined nature of attacks on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pokrovsk direction<\/strong> remains the most difficult for the Armed Forces of Ukraine due to the most intense actions of Russian troops. Currently, the occupiers are trying to break through to the Pokrovsk \u2013 Kostiantynivka road and take it under control, but they are not succeeding. There is no threat of encirclement of Pokrovsk now. Nor is there a threat of a breakthrough to the administrative borders of Dnipropetrovsk region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, daily losses of the occupying forces in the Pokrovsk direction amount to between 300 and 500 personnel. In a month of advancement by 1.5 km, the occupiers lost at least 10 to 15 thousand personnel. In total, during the fighting in this sector of the front, according to GUR data, the losses of the occupiers amounted to 150 thousand personnel, with 1,800 units of armored vehicles lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to available information, the occupiers’ losses in the direction over the last day \u2014 292 killed and wounded. In addition, one MT-LB tractor, four vehicles, four motorcycles, two satellite communication terminals, and four UAV control points were destroyed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pokrovsk is strategically important due to its role as a supply hub; it stands at the intersection of many transportation highways, one of which leads to key cities of Donetsk region, including Chasiv Yar and Kostiantynivka, and contains a regional railway station. Thanks to its strategic location, its capture would allow advancement toward Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russia has both military and economic goals in capturing the city. Pokrovsk is a major transport hub, which allows full control over the locations of the Ukrainian Defense Forces; in addition, capturing the city essentially solves the issue of occupying the western areas of Donetsk region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the capture of Vuhledar, the pressure of Russian occupiers on the Kurakhove and Pokrovsk directions intensified for a reason, since the main task of the occupiers is to reach the administrative border of Donetsk region and, accordingly, Dnipropetrovsk region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, the occupiers are using a persistent practice \u2014 flank encirclement of the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to take locations either under fire or direct control, which would make it impossible or significantly reduce rotation, ammunition delivery, and evacuation of the wounded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This practice has been used since 2022. It is their persistent so-called \u201csmall cauldron\u201d tactic, of flank encirclements. It allows the occupiers to avoid fighting in urban areas, which they fear greatly, as the loss ratio there is 1 to 5 compared to the side conducting active defense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the main threat is currently concentrated in Donetsk region. In particular, in the areas of Kramatorsk, Sloviansk, and Pokrovsk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Even after the plans of the Russian Federation become known and they understand that they can no longer carry out a particular operation \u2014 this does not mean they refuse to conduct such an operation. They carry out regrouping, other preparatory activities, the troops begin combat training, preparation precisely for executing those plans that were developed. So, exposing the enemy’s plans does not yet mean a complete refusal of the Russian Federation to implement them,\u201d \u2014 said a representative of Ukrainian intelligence.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
