The world is on early stages the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
World Health Organisation (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told this, UA reports citing the organization’s website.
According to him, for the fourth consecutive week the amount of ill with COVID-19 around the globe continues growing. Deaths are rising as well.
Head of the WHO told that the “Delta” strain is already revealed in 111 countries of the world.
“We expect it to become the dominating coronavirus strain in the nearest future” – Ghebreyesus noted.
Besides, the WHO chief paid attention to the problem of unequal vaccine distribution between the countries. The considerable part of the world’s population becomes more prone to infection because of the lack of available vaccines.
“Many countries haven’t got vaccines yet, while the majority haven’t got the sufficient amount of vaccines” – Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stressed.
