In the administration of the President of the United States, it has been announced that there is no evidence of abuse or corrupt practices regarding the military equipment and weaponry sent by Washington to Kyiv to counter Russian aggression. This statement was made by John Kirby, the Coordinator of Strategic Communications for the National Security Council at the White House, during a briefing.

“We have seen no signs of any widespread corruption or misuse by the Ukrainian military,” stated John Kirby. He emphasized that the United States is making every effort to ensure accountability for each piece of weaponry provided to Ukraine.

“To assure Congress and the American people that this equipment is being used properly on the battlefield, we have added experts and personnel to the team in Kyiv specifically for accountability purposes. The Ukrainians understand our need for this,” added John Kirby.

The White House representative assured that the transfer of every military aid is discussed considering the needs of Kyiv.

“In many cases, this weaponry goes directly from trucks and trains into the hands of soldiers on the battlefield – not always, but often it happens very quickly. They are using it properly to defend their country,” Kirby concluded.

Meanwhile, the White House mentioned that they currently lack funds for new military assistance to Ukraine until it is approved by the U.S. Congress. Earlier, President Joe Biden, commenting on the extensive Russian shelling of Ukraine, emphasized the urgent need for Congress to approve additional aid for Kyiv.

As a reminder, during the year 2023, the United States provided Ukraine with military assistance amounting to 24 billion dollars. On December 27, the Pentagon announced the provision of the 34th military aid package for the year 2023, totalling 250 million dollars.

As part of this assistance, Ukraine received various military equipment, including Patriot systems, Abrams tanks, various armoured vehicles, ATACMS, DPICM, other air defence systems, missiles, artillery shells, demining tools, and other essential military gear. Additionally, a historic decision was made to supply Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets.
