NATO policy is aimed at expansion. Such unions cannot be mothballed to exist in the same composition for decades. Development and expansion is the key to the strength of the union. The next step is granting NATO membership to Ukraine, but so far the union has still not reached a consensus on this issue. This was announced today, on April 30, on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel by the candidate of political sciences, the founder of the “SD Platform” Bogdan Ferens.
He noted that the decision on Ukraine’s entry into NATO depends on the key capitals of the countries participating in the Alliance – Berlin, Paris, London, Washington.
“I think that the keys to solutions are there. And if there is a consensus among the key NATO countries, then other countries will support this decision, ”Ferens believes.
The expert also told what criteria Ukraine should strive to become a member of the North Atlantic Alliance.
“They correlate with the Copenhagen criteria in the context of countries’ integration into the European Union. What is the strength and speed of integration of the Scandinavian countries, such as Finland, which is already a member of NATO, and Sweden, which, I think, will soon become a member of NATO, is that they were ready politically and economically. These are developed countries with a serious economy, as well as a military-industrial complex according to NATO standards, ”he explained.
Bogdan Ferens added that in addition to the criteria, geopolitical circumstances are taken into account that affect the moods within the NATO member countries, the moods in the societies of these countries.
Recall that on April 20, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg arrived in Kyiv for the first time since the start of a full-scale invasion of Russian troops in Ukraine.
