The Olympic Games 2020 started in Tokyo today, on 23 July. The head of state Volodymyr Zelenskyy wished success to the Ukrainian team in a special video message, UA reports.
Zelenskyy is convinced that Ukrainians stars will show the best result at the competition and the capital of Japan will see blue and yellow flags.
The President noted that although this Olympics will be held without spectators, with empty stands, it will not be “empty hearts”, because the hearts of all Ukrainians will be full of support and faith in the victories of Ukrainian athletes.
“I believe that bright Ukrainian stars will shine in the land of the rising sun. And I believe that you will give us something that is dearer than gold, silver and bronze – these are emotions from victory, pride to be Ukrainian, happiness to be Ukrainian, moments that remain forever in our large, more than forty millionth family album. Let’s replenish this album. We believe in you, and wait for the “gold” in Ukraine. And our gold is all the Ukrainian Olympians in Tokyo. Success to you! And without injuries! “, – said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The opening ceremony of the Olympics took place at the 68 000 Tokyo National Stadium, specially built for the Games.
