The President of the US Joe Biden assures that US-provided weapons will not be used to conduct strikes deep inside the Russian territory.

He told this ABC News while in Normandy.

“They’re authorized to be used in proximity to the border when they’re being used on the other side of the border to attack specific targets in Ukraine. We’re not authorizing strikes 200 miles into Russia and we’re not authorizing strikes on Moscow, on the Kremlin,” Biden stressed.

Biden didn’t directly answer if Ukraine had already used US-produced weapons but both Ukrainian and Russian soldiers have reported destroyed S-300 and S-400 in the Belgorod region which would require, for example, HIMARS.

When asked whether he is concerned by Putin’s reaction to his decision, Biden responded he has been concerned by Putin for 40 years as he is not a decent man and reiterated why it is important to provide Ukrainians with this opportunity.

“He’s a dictator, and he’s struggling to make sure he holds his country together while still keeping this assault going. We’re not talking about giving them weapons to strike Moscow, to strike the Kremlin, to strike against — just across the border, where they’re receiving significant fire from conventional weapons used by the Russians to go into Ukraine to kill Ukrainians,” US President added.

In Normandy, Biden will take part in the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of D-Day landings. He will meet both Emannuel Macron and Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
