The U.S. State Department has approved the sale of anti-tank Javelin missiles to Ukraine and declared that “the Javelin system will help Ukraine build its long-term defense capacity to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity in order to meet its national defense requirements,
The deal is estimated not to exceed $47 million dollars in total. The price also includes the purchase of 37 Javelin Command Launch Units as well as transportation, training, and assistance. Now, before any Javelin weapons are dispatched to Ukraine, Congress needs to approve it – it remains for now unclear as to when it will happen.
