The United States has announced the full reimposition of all U.S. sanctions against Iran that had been lifted since the signing of the 2015 Iranian nuclear deal, Ukrinform reports.

The sanctions come into force on Nov. 5. They cover shipping, finance and energy sectors of Iran. It is the second wave of restrictions since Donald Trump announced the withdrawal of the U.S. from the Iranian nuclear deal in May.

The sanctions restrict other countries from the purchase of Iranian oil and petroleum products.

Washington underlines that sanctions against Iran will remain until Tehran complies with the requirements, including ceasing of support for terrorism, military involvement in Syria, and complete cessation of missile and nuclear programs.

“Our ultimate aim is to compel Iran to permanently abandon its well-documented outlier activities and behave as a normal country,” U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said.

The United States said it will temporarily allow eight jurisdictions to keep importing Iranian oil when U.S. sanctions come back into force.

U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin said 700 Iranian companies and individuals will be added to the sanctions list.
