The United States, Great Britain, and France have launched airstrikes on Syria. This was a response to an alleged chemical attack in the city of Douma. The missiles hit three objects linked to the Syrian chemical weapons program: a scientific research center in Greater Damascus and two chemical weapons facilities near Homs. This is according to Joseph Dunford, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Defense Department. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said that the attack is a direct result of Russia’s failure to disarm Syria of chemical weapons.

A suspected chemical attack in the Syrian city of Douma occurred on April 7th. This is according to humanitarian organizations. They state that at least 60 people were killed as a result of the attack. According to the US State Department, the number of deaths reached 85. More than a thousand people were injured. The international community has blamed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for the attack, and Russia – of supporting him. However, Syria denies the accusations. At a recent meeting of the UN Security Council, Russia vetoed a US draft resolution on investigating the chemical attack.
