Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and European Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius discussed the continuation of joint efforts on Europe’s security strategy, where Ukraine plays a key role.
According to Ukrinform, Umerov announced this on Facebook.
“We discussed initiatives to ensure funding for the Ukrainian army and the procurement of defense products. Ukraine is ready for deeper integration in defense cooperation and joint arms production,” the minister said.
During the meeting, Umerov emphasized the importance of increasing the production rate of armored vehicles, shells, and other military equipment by European defense companies.
“The European Defense Industrial Program could be a significant step in this direction — it opens new opportunities for procurement and production of weaponry in collaboration with European partners.,” he said.
Umerov thanked Kubilius for the constructive dialogue. “We are strengthening cooperation with the EU and working towards shared security,” Umerov said.
