Ukrainians won gold and silver medals on the first day of Judo’s Grand Slam in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Daria Bilodid, who participated in the 48 kilogram weight class, brought gold for Ukraine. Bilodid overcame rivals from Spain, Romania and Mongolia. She competed for the gold medal against Eva Csernoviczki from Hungary, the bronze medallist of the London Olympics in 2012 .
Georgii Zantaraia, won the silver medal, after he lost to Japan’s Kenzo Tagawa. On his way to the finals, he beat another Ukrainian, Bohdan Yadov.
