Ukraine has developed a victory plan, which it will present to US President Joe Biden in September, since the implementation of the plan largely depends on the United States. This was stated today, August 27, during a press conference at the forum “Ukraine 24. Independence” by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The first part of this plan is military. And the operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region is precisely the implementation of the plan.
“A very limited circle of people knew about this operation. Therefore, the operation is a success,” the president said.
He named the main successes of the Kursk operation. Firstly, the Russian offensive in the Kharkiv region was stopped.
“We had information about the enemy’s plans to create a buffer zone in the Kharkiv region, and then in the north. We did not know the specifics, but we understood that we were talking about the Sumy or Chernihiv regions. We received such information from our intelligence and from the intelligence of our partners. But the exact sequence of creating buffer zones was unknown to us, but we understood that this could happen,” Zelenskyy said.
Therefore, secondly, the Kursk operation prevented the occupation of the Sumy and Chernihiv regions.
“In addition, a large number of Russian troops, serious groups, were defeated,” the head of state added.
The Russians also transferred some of their troops from the front in Ukraine to the Kursk region – primarily from the Kharkov direction and from the Southern Front. For now, they are not touching their units in the Donetsk region, since the capture of this region is currently Russia’s strategic goal.
“The fact that they are not yet withdrawing troops from the Donetsk region is understandable. They have the best trained units there, and the Donetsk region is their strategic direction. They really want to occupy our Donetsk region – this goal of theirs has not changed since 2014. They want to completely occupy the Ukrainian Donbass – it will not work, and we are working on it,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
The President emphasized that the Kursk region is an integral part of the Ukrainian victory plan.
“One of the areas of this plan has already been implemented – the Kursk region. The second area of the plan is Ukraine’s strategic place in the global security infrastructure. The third area is a powerful package of coercion for Russia to end the war diplomatically. And the fourth area is economic,” the President of Ukraine listed.
He said that the Ukrainian victory plan has already been prepared, and it is planned to present it to US President Joe Biden in September.
“It will be logical if I first present it to the US President, since the success of this plan depends on him – whether they will give us what is indicated in this plan or not. Whether we will be free to act to use what is laid down in this plan or not. I think that in September at the meeting I will hand over the plan to the US President. I think it would be logical to hand it over to both Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, because we don’t know who will be the next US president, but we really want to implement this plan,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy summed up.
As previously reported, Ukraine began the Kursk operation on August 6, today the Armed Forces of Ukraine control 1,294 square kilometers of the territory of the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, 100 settlements, 594 Russian servicemen were captured in this direction.
