Ukrainian Naval Forces to Receive US Patrol Boats

Ukrainian Naval Forces are expecting a delivery of patrol boats from the United States.

This was by announced by Stepan Poltorak, minister of defense of Ukraine, during ceremonial events held today for Ukrainian Navy Day, UNN reported.

“This year, in addition to the boats that we have just incorporated into the Navy, we expect to receive patrol boats from our partners, from the United States. We have to complete the construction of landing assault boats. We have to continue working on the construction of the corvette (class of multipurpose warships), and continue working on the development and construction of armored artillery boats,” Poltorak said.

Ukraine will receive two Island-class patrol boats from the U.S.

The process of transferring the boats will start after the signing the contract. The U.S. will also train Ukrainian servicemen who will serve on the boats.

Earlier today, President Petro Poroshenko congratulated servicemen of the Naval Forces on the Day of the Ukrainian Navy.
