Investigators of the Kyiv Police Department, together with the Prosecutor’s Office and the Security Service of Ukraine, detained members of an organized group responsible for taking people illegally across the border to countries of the European Union.

The members were caught in Kyiv International Airport when attempting to get two people across the state border.

According to the press service of the National Police Department of Kyiv region, law enforcement officers have been investigating the group for several months.

“Three members of the group, from 45 to 50 years of age, organized illegal migration across the state border of Ukraine to the countries of the European Union. To send people, they used fake passports of Israeli citizens with appropriate signs of entry into Ukraine, “the statement by the National Police Department stated.

These people also provided their customers with transportation tickets and accompanied them until the people left for the EU. For this, they received $4,000 to $5,000 per person.

Currently, members of the group are detained and held in a temporary detention center. They face between seven and nine years in prison.
