Ukrainian Creates a “Food Lab” for Smartphones

According to BBC Ukraine, Karpyuk has made it into the ranking of innovators of the year of the Eastern Europe – New Europe 100.

“Usually, checking food for the presence of harmful substances requires taking it to special laboratories and waiting 3 to 7 days for the corresponding results. Only after that can a person consume it with confidence. But the process can be simplified significantly by using a mobile laboratory from “BIOsens,” says the founder of the project.

The mobile laboratory “BIOsens” works through an application and a special device with test strips.

The team is now searching for investors to create the first complete device for express diagnosis of mycotoxins. Its estimated cost is US $500, and US $10 for each test strip. Eventually, they want to make the devices cheaper and more affordable.
